  some of you were really nice.

  some of you were really mean to me, and at this point in my life i can't handle such meanness.

  i thought this would be my one place to truly express my feelings without too much mocking or insults from people who i thought were nicer, but i was wrong.

  Band on the Run, the "Declaration of Facts" is not made up. It's mentioned in CofC (I think) and there is plenty of information on it available on the internet if you chose to research it for yourself. (Since you claim to work in law this shouldn't be too hard for you)

  i regard the information below as true until proven false because of corresponding with a young man in s. africa for a few years whose story i posted on my website: http://www.watchtowerdocuments.com/stories/caleb.html, "freedom from an unsafe haven, by caleb.

  " although some of the accounts of abuse of children in s. africa in the story below are older, calab wrote me details of abusive treatment meted out to young people in his area that he chose not to put in his story for fear he could be identified.

  calab in now in university in another part of africa and very happy after breaking the chains that engulfed his mind.. barbara.

  I agree with steve2 that the article is sensationalist in its style and content.

  It starts off with:

  Children of Jehovah’s Witnesses (JW’s) are regularly used and abused to do local house chores, home maintenance and garden work without proper remuneration or pocket money.

  Umm, excuse me? Since when has doing home chores and garden work been classed as "abuse"? We need to remember that SA familes are not all wealthy whites, so assigning housework and maintenance around the home chores to children is sometimes necessary. The author does not give any verifiable examples, but continues to breathlessly inform us of other apparent abuses.

  It's a pity the author hasn't been able to make a clean enough break from the JWs to be able to give details, or to allow another (non-JW) author to publish the information under their own name.

  I remember the shoes on/off thing but I agreed with it. The host has the right to ask for shoes to come off. It's not until you host a bookstudy (or close to someone who does) that you realise how much wear and tear a weekly study group has on the carpet and furniture.

  We only had "cup of tea night" that was once a month and usually it was just tea and coffee and cake and biscuits. No games or tv or anything like that, though.
